The modernization of harmony between humanity and nature is a defining characteristic of Chinese modernization. Since the reform and opening-up, China’s rapid industrialization and urbanization have intensified resource constraints, environmental pollution, and ecosystem degradation, straining the relationship between humans and nature and posing significant challenges to ecological security and sustainable development. In response, China has taken decisive action, achieving remarkable progress in ecological and environmental governance. Grounded in its vision of a harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature, China promotes and practices the concept of a shared future for humankind and the principle that “lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets.” By steadfastly pursuing ecological priorities, resource conservation, and green, low-carbon, high-quality development, China offers a special example of global sustainable development.
