This communication analyzes the intersections in the geo-political-economic relations between (West) African countries and Asian countries. Delving into postcolonial ideology, it is concerned with looking at how power relations and hegemonic designs are reflected in the relations between countries like China, Russia, India, and Turkey in their (new) partnerships with Africa that has become the playground of world’s economic and political relations. It also looks at how historical imperialism, transnational economic systems, neoliberal order affect the continent, which is grappling with global polycrises amidst the growing multipolarity in the hegemonic systems, and its relations to Asian experiences and it strives to re-invent counter-hegemonic strategies, narratives, and practices against Western models.
