Presentation Abstract The inspiration for this paper derives from my ethnographic research with people in contexts of migration, including refugees. The proposed paper will draw from my research with the Warao indigenous people from Venezuela who have increasingly migrated to Brazil. The study has focused specifically on the northern region of Brazil which borders Venezuela. Part of my research has been concerned with how indigenous people encounter urban territory, their access to education and other essential rights. For the purpose of this paper, I want to reflect on my theoretical and methodological approaches and experiences as part of this study. I will start by reflecting on indigenous people’s context in Pindorama (Brazil), my reflections as an Other encountering another Other in national and international contexts. These encounters have shaped my political, theoretical and methodological approaches which will be discussed in this article.
