Paper Abstract:
Title: Reimagining Solidarity: Pan-Africanism, Bandung's Legacy, and the Rise of the Global South in a Multipolar World
This paper explores the enduring relevance of Pan-Africanism and the Bandung Conference's legacy in shaping the contemporary Global South. As the world transitions toward a multipolar order, the ideologies of solidarity and cooperation, rooted in these historic movements, provide critical frameworks for addressing current global challenges and fostering stronger alliances among nations of the Global South.
The paper examines how Pan-Africanist principles—emphasizing unity, self-determination, and shared prosperity—intersect with the Bandung spirit of anti-colonial solidarity to inform new models of South-South cooperation. It addresses key questions such as: How can these ideologies guide the Global South in redefining geopolitical strategies, tackling economic inequality, climate change, and resisting neocolonialism? What role do these frameworks play in empowering the Global South to assert greater agency in global governance, diplomacy, and trade?
The discussion extends to the role of youth and civil society in Africa, Asia, and Latin America in revitalizing and reinterpreting these ideologies to forge resilient networks of solidarity.
The paper concludes by outlining strategic pathways for advancing South-South cooperation and reclaiming the Global South's narrative in international relations. It will present recommendations for policymakers, civil society leaders, and scholars, emphasizing the pursuit of a just and sustainable multipolar world order that promotes equity and development for all.
