Paper Abstract: Literature can serve as a valuable source for historical research, allowing the analysis of historical contexts through books, cartoons, or graphic novels, revealing insights into the productions and representations within their pages. In this chapter, we aim to explore the potential of literary narratives as a means of constructing historical knowledge, with a focus on Afro-Asian perspectives. To achieve this, we will examine the contemporary cases of Nigeria and Palestine, exploring commonalities in their critiques of British imperialism while highlighting their distinct characteristics. These analyses are based on the books The thing around your neck (2017), The Education of a British-Protected Child (2012), Palestine (2011), and A Children in Palestine (2011). Through these literary works, the chapter seeks to delve into the socio-political circumstances of Nigeria and Palestine, engaging in discussions on anti-imperialism, literary narratives, imperial/colonial occupation and the unique representations of childhood.
