Bista, an associate professor, is the Head of the Department of Economics, Patan Multiple Campus, Tribhuvan University (TU). Since 1999, he has taught Economics of Nepal and agricultural economics, along with Development Economics and Public Economics at the Master’s Program and Measurement of human development & sustainable development at Master of Philosophy (M.Phil. led Ph.D.) in the Central Department of Rural Development Studies, TU. He did Reduction of Emission from Deforestation & Degradation of Forest at Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) from Jadavpur University, Calcutta, India, in 2010. His areas of expertise are macroeconomics, climate change economics, and econometrics. His areas of interest are development issues, including climatic disasters, poverty, FDI, trade, and conflict. He has six books: Foreign Direct Investment in Nepal (2005), Economics of Nepal (2008), and Global Role of Nepalese Forest: A Case of Reduction of Emission from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD) (2010) in Amazon; Economics Cost of Armed Conflict: Valuing Armed Conflict in Nepal (2017); COVID, Economic Recession and Nepalese Economy (2020); and COVID, Economy and Economic Policy (2020) in Thupari.com, along with 50 peer-reviewed journal papers (International & National). He recently held the editor position for the Journal of Benu Business Review, Benu University, Indonesia.
