I am a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer at the Bonn Centre for Dependency and Slavery Studies in Bonn, Germany. I received my PhD from the University of Duisburg-Essen (Germany) in 2021. In my current research project, I am working on slavery at the Cape in South Africa during the Dutch colonial period (1652-1795). My research interests include early modern history, South African history, slavery studies, and colonial, and gender history. My most recent article, “Religion, Slavery, and Resistance in Cape Town during the Dutch Colonial Period (1652-1795)” was published in 2024 in a volume edited by Christoph Haar and entitled “Slavery, Law and Religion in the Early Modern Period” with Brill.
