Dr. Emma Kalb is a postdoctoral researcher at the Bonn Center for Dependency and Slavery Studies, University of Bonn. She studied early modern South Asian history and Indo-Persian at the University of California, Berkeley (M.A.) and the University of Chicago (Ph.D). Her research interests center on themes of slavery, service, gender, and sexuality in early modern South Asia. Emma’s current book project is entitled “Eunuch Lives: Gender, Slavery, and Intimacy in Early Modern South Asia.
