Annette Loeseke is a Professor of Art History and Museum Studies at Braunschweig University of Art, Germany. Educated in art history and arts management in Freiburg, Munich, Paris and London, she received her PhD in art history from the University of Bonn. Before joining Braunschweig in 2024, she was Programme Director and Lecturer in Cultural and Creative Industries at Sheffield University Management School. She also taught at NYU Berlin and the Reinwardt Academy at Amsterdam University of the Arts. Her research intersects museum studies, visitor/stakeholder studies and transformative curatorial practice in super-diverse societies. Her current research revolves around public-private networks, third actors and synergies among partners in the museum and heritage sector and beyond. She is the co-editor of the volume Cultural Heritage in the Middle East and North Africa: Third Actors, Mediators, and De-centralised Practices, under contract with Routledge. Recent publications include The Politics of Contemporary Art Museums: Calouste Gulbenkian's Modern Collection in Lisbon (in Curating the Contemporary in the Art Museum, Routledge, 2023) and Challenging the Framing of 'Asia' and the Role of the KVVAK [Royal Dutch Asian Art Society]: The Asian Pavilion at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam (Kunsttexte 2020/4, Special Issue Transcultural Perspectives: Asia Collections Outside Asia).
