Suzana Velasco is a journalist, writer, and postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of International Relations – Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), Brazil, where she completed her doctorate (2023) and master's (2011) degree. She is the author of the play "Pra onde quer que eu vá será exílio" (“Wherever I go it will be exile”), a fiction work fiction based on her research about the representation of refugees, published by Cobogó in 2021. She also published the book "Immigration in the European Union: a critical reading from the nexus between securitization, citizenship and transnational identity" (EDUEPB, 2014), after winning Best Dissertation Award by the Brazilian Association of International Relations. Suzana Velasco has a degree in Journalism from PUC-Rio (2002) and worked as a reporter and assistant editor for the newspaper O Globo for 12 years. As a German Chancellor Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, she researched about the narratives of Turkish immigration in Berlin in 2014 and 2015. Suzana Velasco is part of the research group Observatory of Migration and Human Rights and her main research interests are international migration and refuge, international political theory, the politics of aesthetics, and narratives.
