Lifang Zhang received her doctorate degree in Art History at Rhodes University, South Africa, in 2024. Her PhD thesis focuses on the materiality and artistic engagements with urban spaces in Harare, Zimbabwe. She obtained her Master’s degree in African Literature at the Department of Asian and African Languages & Literatures at Peking University in 2017 and her Master's degree in Art History at the Fine Art Department at Rhodes University in 2019. Her research interests include Contemporary African art; Art and social transformation; Materiality; and Afro-Asia artistic engagements.
