KU Leuven, Belgium
I am a doctoral student of anthropology at KU Leuven. My research interests are in health, medicine, and body movements in the China-Africa relationship. I focus on the daily interactions in the aspect of working and living, not only between Chinese and indigenous people but also between people from various backgrounds. I explore how multiple manifestations of understandings, practices, and knowledge of health, medicine, and the body are negotiated and worked out in the process of doing and making. The persistent association between various meanings and practices has inspired me to investigate how changing meanings and practices of health are located in particular environments. I also value the interaction between humans, materials, and space. I did my fieldwork in Burundi, with a special focus on the daily work and life of Chinese medical teams there. In my fieldwork, I investigated the emotions, feelings, and affect of Chinese doctors and the (re) professionalisation and identification of being a doctor (again) through their working and living experience.
