Dr. Karina Simonson is an art historian and assistant professor at the Institute for Asian and Transcultural Studies at Vilnius University, Lithuania. The focus of her research is cultural connections between Lithuania and the Global South in the 20th and 21st centuries, as well as the history of the African diaspora in Eastern Europe, race and racism issues in Lithuania, cultural appropriations and cultural diplomacy. Her recent book project is titled "Representation of Africa and Asia in the Lithuanian Children's Culture of the Soviet Era (1945-1990): Origins, Influences, Dissemination, Consequences".
