Dr. Ohsoon Yun is a cultural geographer and coffee researcher specializing in Ethiopian coffee tourism and transregional cultural flows. With extensive fieldwork in Ethiopia, South Korea, and Japan, she examines how commodities like coffee carry, transform, and reproduce meanings across borders.
She holds a PhD in Human Geography from the University of Exeter and is currently based in Tokyo, where she leads Beletu Inc., a platform dedicated to Ethiopian coffee culture, storytelling, and knowledge dissemination in Asia.
She is also affiliated with the African Studies Center at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, where her current research focuses on the evolving cultural geographies of coffee in Asia. She leads the Asian Coffee Road Project, an initiative that explores how coffee travels, adapts, and gains new meanings in East Asian contexts.
