Maatkara "Maat" Wilson is a researcher and aspiring curator informed by synthetic materials & technological glitches. Much of Maat's academic and art practice is directly linked to finishing high school outside of the Western world, witnessing and participating in attempts to "hybridize" institutions and organizations. Becoming attuned to both natural and human-made networks, Maat draws links between synthetic hair and glitches in digitally augmented photography, attempting to understand the lessons that contradictions and "failures" teach about cultural hybridization between global cities. Previously, Maat has worked as a research and curatorial assistant with researchers at the University of Amsterdam on the China-Africa Fashion Power project, as well as the curators of Project a Black Planet: The Art and Culture of Panafrica, respectively.
