Born in Uganda, Vick L. SSALI has been living and teaching in Japan for 21 years. He obtained his MA in English Language Education from Birmingham University, in the UK, and his PhD in Global Society Studies from Doshisha University, Japan. Vick teaches English and the cultures of English speaking countries (英語圏) at Aichi Gakuin University in Central Japan. He is also founding president of the Japan Society for Afrasian Studies (JSAS), and his research interests include governance and human security in Africa, as well as cross-cultural communication, CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning), and cultural competence.
