This session looks at the relation between colonial-era displacements and memory-making. After the screenings, there will be a conversation with Marie Thiva Nguyen, founder of USENINDO Kim Hoï, and other members of the Senegalese-Indochinese Union in Dakar, moderated by Aissatou Seck, a doctoral candidate in Contemporary Modern History at Cheikh Anta Diop University. This conversation will be in French.
 
The association represents descendants of Senegalese riflemen who fought in the Indochina War under the flag of colonial France between 1945 and 1954, a little-known chapter in the historiography of Senegal. The speakers will share their history (colonial and postcolonial) through the prism of the social, cultural and identity dynamics shared between Senegal and Indochina. The women also will discuss the objectives and motivations for the creation of USENINDO Kim Hoï in Senegal.

Cette session examine la relation entre les déplacements de l'époque coloniale et la construction de la mémoire. Après les projections, il y aura une conversation avec Marie Thiva Nguyen, fondatrice de USENINDO Kim Hoï, et d'autres membres de l'Union sénégalo-indochinoise à Dakar, modérée par Aissatou Seck, doctorante en histoire moderne contemporaine à l'Université Cheikh Anta Diop. Cette conversation se déroulera en français.

L'association représente les descendants des tirailleurs sénégalais qui ont participé à la guerre d'Indochine sous le drapeau de la France coloniale entre 1945 et 1954, un chapitre méconnu de l'historiographie sénégalaise. Les intervenantes partageront leur histoire (coloniale et postcoloniale) à travers le prisme des dynamiques sociales, culturelles et identitaires partagées entre le Sénégal et l'Indochine. Elles évoqueront également les objectifs et les motivations de la création d'USENINDO Kim Hoï au Sénégal.
