Prof. Peter F. ADEBAYO
Peter F. Adebayo, is a Professor at the Department of History and International Studies, at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria and a former head of the Department. His Ph.D. dissertation was on the Lebanese in Nigeria: The Lebanese and the Economy of Lagos, 1890-1980. Adebayo was a 2003 Fulbright Scholar at the New York University's prestigious Multinational Institute of American Studies (MIAS) where he successfully completed a certificate course on ‘Civilization of the United States of America’. In 2005, he won the Advanced Research Fellowship Program Award from the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA). As a laureate of CODESRIA, he has been working on Lebanese migrants who have returned from Nigeria to two export migrant villages of Miziara in the North and Jwaya in the South of Lebanon, focusing on family and village transnational networking. He is also preparing an annotated bibliography on the Lebanese Emigration to Nigeria and book--From Peddlers to Industrialists: The Lebanese in Lagos,1890-1980. Recently, he became a prize committee member of World History and he won a grant as a World travel scholar from World History Association. He has published widely.
