The first two papers on this panel explore the imaginaries of Bandung “Friendship” (Fennell) and the continued emotional discourses around Afro-Asian and Global South solidarities (Benabdallah). The second two papers look at two concrete examples of Afro-Sino collaboration and the ways in which they are narrativized to fit the current moment of China-Africa cooperation; Wang reconsiders the discourse of “Chinese-exported architecture” in Africa focusing on the Cairo International Conference Center, while Avle and Zhao examine Solar Technologies and the Greening of Afro-Sino Futures
