Claire Thi Liên Tran is a historian of Contemporary Vietnam, associate professor at Université Paris Cité and researcher at Cessma (Centre d'études en sciences sociales sur les mondes africains, américains et asiatiques). Her work is focused on the history of Catholicism in Vietnam, relationships between politics and religions since the end of the 19th century, during the colonial period and the two Vietnams until today. She is also working on religious and cultural circulations and the building of elites in Southeast Asia. She is editing a book on the Asians in the First World War and is writing a monography on Vietnamese Catholicism in the Red River Delta through the story of a family over 4 generations in a global micro-history perspective.
